Our story

How we came about

Everything started when our manager, Filippo, came across the promotional video of the competition. As an F1 fan with a passion for vehicles design, he thought it was a unique opportunity to apply his hobby in a practical context, testing his knowledge while learning new skills. The first person he talked to was Andrea, our pilot and car engineer, then when back in school, Alberto and Sofia, who would later become our simulation expert and graphics designer, also got on board. Having grown to a group of four we reached out to our maths teacher to follow us in this adventure and sign up our school. She was eager to support us and advertised the project, that is how Matteo and Sherine, our pilot and social media manager learned about the initiative and joined us. When the team had been formed we kicked-off the project by organising the first meeting where we discussed what to work on and how (roles and responsibilities, main tasks) and brainstormed the key points of our identity.
Our first idea for the team's name was to honour our school (Pascal Racing), but partially because another team had been formed, we looked for better options. We had three prerequisites for the name:
  • It had to start with the letter P, since we already had ideas for logo designs
  • It had to be linked to science, common interest of the whole team
  • It had to remind the idea of speed
We thus all agreed on "Photon Racing" as the best option.
